Berkeley Cable Replacement
Berkeley, California
This power cable replacement project in downtown Berkeley replaced vulnerable cable, some of which dated back to the 1930’s. Crews doubled up to complete the first section near Cal Berkeley along Bancroft Way and Berkeley High School on Milvia Street before fall classes resumed. A total of 9,600 linear feet of trench was installed along with 32 #7 vaults and four 6” ducts for future circuit replacements. This upgrade improves the capacity and reliability of power and will decrease the number of power outages in downtown Berkeley, the university and surrounding neighborhoods.
