Magalia Dam
Paradise, California

Veteran Pipeline Construction installed electric and telecom conduits along the Magalia Dam, as part of PG&E’s larger initiative to mitigate wildfire risks following the devastating Camp Fire. This critical project connects two phases of work between Magalia and Paradise, crossing the bridge and dam to unite both cities.
The project involves three crews and is scheduled for completion by mid-October. One of the key challenges has been the rocky terrain, requiring the use of drilling, open trench methods, and rock breakers to navigate the tough conditions. Despite these obstacles, our team successfully completed the bore across the dam, installed seven utility boxes, and maintained a seamless operation.
Maintaining the safety of the community and environment has been a top priority throughout the project. Given the presence of asbestos in the area, all crew members have undergone thorough training and certification to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Dust control measures have been carefully implemented, including keeping the ground consistently wet during excavation, minimizing disruption, and ensuring that the water in the lake remains uncontaminated by construction debris.
Furthermore, our crews have been working in close coordination with the Paradise Irrigation District to facilitate their operations at the water treatment plant. By plating open trenches and moving equipment as needed, we’ve ensured smooth access for trucks, materials, and employees on the extremely tight road.
Thanks to the commitment and expertise of the crews, they successfully navigated obstacles while keeping noise levels down and avoiding traffic issues. The team can be proud to part of the effort to strengthen infrastructure and enhance wildfire resilience for Magalia and Paradise.
